Liposuction
Targeted removal of stubborn fat deposits to reshape body contours.
Liposuction removes localised fat deposits that resist diet and exercise — commonly the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, chin and back — through small, concealed incisions using fine cannulas. It is a body-contouring operation, not a weight-loss method: the best candidates are near a stable weight with distinct problem areas and reasonably elastic skin. Depending on the extent, it is performed under local anaesthesia with sedation or general anaesthesia. A compression garment is worn for several weeks afterwards to guide the skin as it settles; most patients return to desk work within a few days and to sport within two to three weeks. Swelling resolves progressively, with the refined contour visible from about six weeks and final at three to six months. Removed fat can also be purified and used for fat grafting in the same session.
