Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is surgery of the eyelids. With age, upper eyelid skin stretches and can hood over the lash line, while the lower lids may develop puffiness and bags — together creating a tired or heavy appearance, and in advanced cases even limiting the upper field of vision. Upper blepharoplasty removes the excess skin through an incision hidden in the natural eyelid crease; lower blepharoplasty removes or repositions bulging fat through an incision just under the lash line or inside the lid. The operation is usually done under local anaesthesia with sedation and takes about one to two hours. Bruising and swelling settle over one to two weeks, and scars fade into the natural lid lines. The change is subtle but powerful: patients look rested and refreshed rather than 'operated on'.
